phatguppy
As part of the 2013 4-H National Youth Science Day Experiment I am interested in knowing if there is a way to create a geocaching game without the use of GPS electronics devices. Other game or experiment ideas include: Geographic positioning Navigation and location Observation and data collection Mapping to find solutions Geo-caching Photo interpretation/remote sensing The goal is to get kids comfortable with the idea of geo referencing without the expense of using electronic devices. Your thought son this would be helpful, thanks. Quote Link to comment

AZcachemeister
...a way to create a geocaching game without the use of GPS electronics devices. By definition, Geocaching involves the use of a GPSr to at least place the cache. Of course you can create your own private game and call it whatever you want, and play it however you want to play. +rav_bunneh
You CAN go geocaching without a GPS unit. If you own a map of your area with longitude and latitude on it, and a compass you can use that to find the caches. It's actually a good skill to learn how to use a proper map. Quote Link to comment
