I think that would depend on the model. Sure a used eTrex basic is probable worth less then $100 but a used Street pilot Colot is still worth several hundred dollars.

 

I personally think that for what the unit does they are priced about right. Especial if you shop around and get a bargin. I thought www.tvnav.com gave me a great deal on my GPSMAP 76.

 

I would say that for the most part eBay is a great place to sell you GPS not buy one.

You can buy an Etrex basic(yellow one) or a Magellan 310 for less than $100 brand new. I just saw the 310 at Fry's for $69. Shop around Tomboy you find something. If you just need it for Geocaching any of the above two will work great

You already paid for the satellites... unless you didn't pay your U.S. Federal Income Tax for the last several years. Hey! people in foriegn countries are using the satellites; maybe the U.S. should collect from them!!
