+Cachefoxxe Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Well I found my first Benchmark today. Walking down the sidewalk, looked down to avoid a step and then did a double take as it was staring right at me. Now I need to figure out what to do with this. What do I post, how do I identify the mark, I have been over the Benchmark page looking for it to log. there are 2 caches right beside it (both at 5.5 miles from me, and the benchmark is right between them.) but when I checked the benchmark page I couldn't find it. Its in Philadelphia at the corner of 3rd and arch streets if thats any help. Otherwise Any info you provide me is welcome. heres a pic of it. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w299/fishkeeperjim/geocaching/benchmark0001.jpg Quote

Quite a few others have found it as well and logged it on the website. You can read the "Me First" thread to get a good idea on how to log your finds. Philadelphia should be a great place to find many old and historic Marks. Good luck and welcome to Benchmarking! Quote
TillaMurphs Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Congratulations on your first benchmark ghosthunterlogan! You picked a good one – it is old. Here is a link to the mark that topflitejr1 researched and identified that is your find: JU0725. Happy Hunting! Feel free to ask questions. There are a good bunch of people on this forum. Quote
+Cachefoxxe Posted August 13, 2012 Author Posted August 13, 2012 (edited) Picked? I didn't pick it. I literally stumbled on it. I was walking down the sidewalk, saw a step coming up and looked down so I wouldn't trip on it and that's how I found it. At least I had been through the forums before, and had seen this section so I knew what it was. If I hadn't glanced over the entire forum I still would have no idea. Fortunately thanks to the information here I recognized it. Adna big thanks to you for helping ID this one. Edited August 13, 2012 by ghosthunterlogan Quote

Wintertime Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Here is another way to identify benchmarks you find (or look for benchmarks to search for) that I use a lot: http://benchmarks.scaredycatfilms.com/ That site has a lot of good features, one being that, unlike the Geocaching.com site, it's up to date with the NGS database.
