[BUG] Attributes missing from Event template

Recommended Posts

My partner and I are hosting an event http://coord.info/GC3PQKA which is to be a Beach BBQ, swimming and Kayaking/Canoeing event yet we cannot locate nor add the desired attributes for may require wading, may require swimming etc... Where did they go???

TIA!

Zop for C-MNM.

Those attributes are used to indicate the conditions that may be needed to find a cache's location.

Does your event require swimming or wading or a boat/canoe/kayak to get to it?

The attributes that might be more appropriate to this type of event would be the "Facilities" ones.

If I remember correctly, attributes are added to the cache page via an edit. Are you saying that when you go to do an edit, those attributes are not available?

Correct, the attributes are not available in edit nor were they available when she crated the event. It's as though the attributes are simply not available for event postings.

Well, there are attributes on these event pages:

That's just a few I picked at random.

I have an unpublished cache. I changed it to an event. I couldn't add "may require wading".

So, I changed the type to traditional and was able to add wading attribute. Then I changed the cache type to event, and the wading attribute was there!?

Any news on this bug? It obviously is not user error -- the boating attribute cannot be set for events except by jumping through the non-obvious hoop.

Come on Groundspeak, this should be trivial to fix. Just open source that part of your code and I'll fix it.

I used a bit of a workaround when I was setting up my kayak event by changing the cache type to something other than an event prior to publication. By doing so, I was able to choose from the entire selection of attributes. Once that was saved, I switched the cache type back to an event and the desired attributes remained, including the boat attribute. The event cache was subsequently published and the attribute was still there.

Yesterday I realized that one of the attributes wasn't correct, so I edited it. In doing so, the boat attribute was lost and without the intervention of a local reviewer (switching the cache type, adding the attribute, switching the cache type back to event) I won't be able to get the attribute back on the listing as it legitimately should be.

With the ever diversifying creativity of the events that are being submitted, I really think it's time that this issue gets rectified by making the full catalogue of attributes available to all cache types once again. Certainly the ones pointed out in the OP would be a fantastic place to start if there is some unknown concern about the appropriate usage of attributes on events.
