+clayton994
Hi, I'm new to geocaching and GPS devices. I bought a Garmin 2495LM just a few weeks ago. Earlier this week I created several pocket queries which retrieved geocache locations within 30 km of a few places I would be visiting. I downloaded the GPX files for each pocket query and copied it onto my Garmin into the directory Internal Storage > GPX. I only wanted them in my Garmin temporarily so I deleted the pocket query GPX files from my Garmin after I returned home. Even though these GPX files were deleted successfully, the geocaches are still in my 'Favourites'. There are well over 1000 of these and I've reached my limit in my Favourites so can't add any new ones until the geocache locations are removed. I believe that there were transferred to Current.gpx. I had saved a back-up of my Garmin directories a couple of weeks ago, so I tried copying the Current.gpx file from this back-up onto my Garmin (this back-up didn't include the 1000+ geocache locations that I'd added later). The smaller back-up file seemed to override Current.gpx OK, but when I turned my Garmin back on, the geocache locations were there again! When I re-checked the files on my Garmin again, the large Current.gpx file had returned. Is there a way to replace the Current.gpx file with an older back-up, or is there any other way to remove the unwanted geocache locations from my Garmin favourites as a batch, or do I have to go into each one and individually delete them which will take several hours since there are so many of them? Thanks, Clayton Quote Link to comment

Thanks, Clayton The Favorites on a Nuvi are internal to the device. They are not in a file and can't be accessed through the file system. Current.gpx is used to add to the favorite. When the unit starts, it reads current.gpx and adds what is in it to the internal favorites. You need to delete or rename the file, then delete the favorites through the units menu system. On most Nuvis it done through Tools/My Data. Hopefully there is an option to delete all favorites so you can start over. It's hard to give specific directions for a Nuvi because there are a bazillion models and each are a little different. I know that the owners manuals are lacking in info but there should be some directions on how to delete the favorites. Quote Link to comment
+BCandMsKitty
There might be a way, but if there is I haven't found it yet. I found out early the hard way that you have to do them one at a time! Since then I put any GPS stuff on a card, and NEVER press YES to the question "Do you want to transfer the data to the internal memory" question when I start my nuvi. If you keep it on the "external" card, it won't go into your favorites. Edited July 20, 2012 by BC & MsKitty Quote Link to comment
