+coggins
hi everyone i ll travel to austria soon. thus, i need the coordinates of the places i wana visit, coz i ll rent a car That converting seems like a lot of work, here's what I do: for example, go to the following page: Lindner Grand Hotel Beau Rivage, Interlaken Then click on the Letter A Icon on the map. Then in the box that opens, select the more... link. The select the send menu item. From there you select the GPS link. Make sure that the letter A item is selected as the Include:. Then select the Brand of GPS. Click the send button and you have it in the GPS displayed in whatever format your GPS is set to. Quote Link to comment
+cottonmouth
The conversion is a cakewalk. You take the value left of the decimal point and put a ° behind it. Then you take the decimals including the decimal point and multiply by 60, add a ' and you are done. Quote Link to comment
+Huntleigh
..snip... in summery, i want to know how to convert from 46° 41' 21.876" to>> 46° 41.364 /??? thanks everyone The first value is in degrees (46); minutes (41) and seconds (21.876). There are sixty seconds in a minute so to convert seconds to minutes you take the seconds and divide them by sixty (i.e. 21.876/60 = 0.3646) which gives you an answer in decimal minutes (41.3646). Likewise to change degrees and decimal minutes to decimal degrees —> 41.3646/60 = 0.68941 which ends up as 46.68941 Cheers Quote Link to comment
savant9
Or just change your google earth settings to display it in the format you want. Quote Link to comment
Suscrofa
Don't waste your time converting to minute, second, it is as absurd as inches and miles ! Use decimal degrees and set up your GPS for decimal degrees if it isn't already. This is in fact the default and standard format in car GPS ! Quote Link to comment
