+indigodave
New to this. Learning slowly. I need a coach or something in my area to learn from. Anyone have a suggestion or two? Thx DAve Quote Link to comment
+fuzziebear3
I looked at the area on the map. I didn't see any events coming up, but there are number of caches, and most of those have a decent number of finds. Hopefully there will be an event in your area soon, and that will allow you to meet some people. Otherwise, if you have found a cache, try contacting the owner or a recent finder of that cache, tell them that you are new and would like to learn more. They may offer to go out with you, or point you to a group/club in the area. Good luck, and happy caching! Quote Link to comment
+indigodave
Thx Fuzzybear, I actually have 11 finds so far and did contact a local but no reply yet. May try another person I guess. Looks like an event in Midland but alas I have to be away. Drat! Nice of you to reply with your ideas. I am grateful! dave Quote Link to comment

Pup Patrol
Come on over to the Central Ontario Geocachers forum and sign up. http://www.centralontariogeocachers.com/forums/ More COG'ers frequent that forum than this one. (There's also a Blackberry group.) COG generally have an event each month of the year. The locations vary a lot, due to the widespread area. Previous events have taken place in Alliston, for example. Right now, everyone is gearing up for the Spring Fling mega event, including the Reviewers who will all be in attendance. Also, sign up for the weekly Groundspeak newsletter, if you haven't already. It lists events and caches, and the distance from your home location is listed for each one. You might want to ask a moderator to move your thread to the Canada forum: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showforum=28 You do that by clicking on the "report" button. B. Thx for the welcome. I tried to set up up event notifications but failed. Could you tell me the path please? Thx Quote Link to comment
Troutonthebrain
Second what Pup Patrol said! That is one of the best ways to get to know cachers in your area. I also see that there is a geocachers association for all of Ontario that you could look into. Quote Link to comment
