On map view, I can not find a symbol legend. I am wondering what the 6 pointed blue "web" type symbol is. It does not grow with a zoom in.

The best guess I can give you is a Wherigo cache. Don't know much about them, but that's the closest thing to what you described. On the LEFT of the map is a grey bar going from top to bottom, click it and you will get a legend.

Could you post a GC code for the cache(s) that have that symbol? Or some coordinates to direct us to the map you're looking at. Thanks.

indigodave, it does help and I see exactly what you are talking about. I'm assuming you are referencing the blue snow flake looking symbols. I've searched around google maps and google earth and can't figure out what they are. I don't believe they are coming from the Geocaching website but rather which ever map source you are pulling up.

Don't recall any symbol like a snowflake, doubtful it's geocaching related. Ask a local what's up there, but I'd assume skiing area or something similar.

It only shows up on mapquest for me....I'm assuming ski-ing or something else to do with snow.

Yup, those are skiing areas, as others have suggested. Mono Hills and Hockley Valley resorts, probably.

 

Seems kind of silly to mark them as snowflakes, but not identify them by name.

For the folks that zoomed in enough to see the road named 5th Line EHS, that's a rather unique thing. The EHS stands for East of Hurontario Street.

 

Yes, it's completely useless for anyone who doesn't know where Hurontario Street is.

Unfortunately, Valley Schuss is closed, gone, as is Caledon Ski Club. Hockley Ski Club is still going strong tho'.
