Car caches

At a flash mob event today I saw and recorded the GC (?) numbers of 8 "geocaches." They were part of official-looking labels on the rear of the cars. Is there a way to log these finds? Is there a special name or category for this type of "geocache?" When I try to log them, it says "unpublished geocache."

Those are travel bugs you can get in the store. I have one on my car. It has a unique number just like any travel bug. When you see one, you record it as "visited" unless you actually stole the car! :rolleyes:

Did these codes begin with the letters GC?

As per the guidelines geocaches must be stationary. So I doubt what you saw was a geocache.

 

Did the official looking label have a symbol that looked something like this small_tb_pic.gif

If it did then you found a travel bug and you can log it at http://www.geocaching.com/track/travelbug.aspx

Even if it didn't you can try and enter the code on the travel bug page and see what happens.

The codes should not start with "GC", because those are not caches, they are travel bugs:
