Idea for iPhone/android app

I use my iPhone and a handheld gps when caching. My brother uses an android phone exclusively when caching. I've been hiding caches lately but the problem is on the iPhone you can't tell how far from an existing cache you are. You can only see for example that you are .1, .2, .3 from a cache and on the droid you can see that you are .15, .16,.17 etc. from a cache. This makes it hard to use the iPhone to place because .1 may not be far enough from an existing cache and if I've deleted a previously found cache from my gps it's useless.

My suggestion is to have a section on the phone app's for placing caches. For example you go to a section in the app that scans the area you are in for existing caches and tells you if it's available or if it's to close to another cache.

This has been suggested to Groundspeak before. We currently do not have plans to add this feature as the GPS on the mobile phones are not accurate enough to produce reliable coordinates for placing caches. If you are considering placing a cache, I suggest using your handheld GPS device to obtain and average your coordinates.
