+NickyWiltshire
Good evening everyone We might be heading over to the New Forest for a few days next week and whilst I know the area pretty well, I've never cached there so I'm looking for your help! Can anyone recommend any "must-do" caches? We prefer traditional caches (as opposed to multi etc), but love unusual or imaginative hides and it would be great to do some series through beautiful forest areas, but preferably no more than about 3 miles (circular) at a time. Any and all ideas would be awesome Cheers folks N x Quote Link to comment
nobby.nobbs
Sounds silly but that's much harder than you might think. It would be easier to tell you the few to avoid. Fritham is a great spot to start from, lovely pub and quite a few caches within reachable distance all worth doing. Wilverley plain has a few in the woods and across the lawn. Bolderwood, North west of Lyndhurst. Deer viewing platform ( not that you should have any trouble seeing deer) and several caches within walking distance. There's 150 caches and at least 140 are excellent Quote Link to comment
+DizzyPair
GC337EN "2799 Of Them" is pretty central in the New Forest. Go to that cache page and then on the left side under Find.... Click on nearby caches of this type.... This will bring up a list of the traditional caches. Note the amount of 'Regular' and 'Small' caches compared to the micros. Also ....You will see how many 'favorite points' have been added to each cache. Quote Link to comment
+t.a.folk
New Forest recommendations? One recommendation would be not to rely on a cell phone for cache co-ords because cell phone reception is very patchy. Edited May 31, 2012 by t.a.folk Quote Link to comment
