changeing icons in .loc files?

Get your pocket queries in GPX format instead of LOC. Then run them thru spinner.

If you don't use a PDA, you can turn off the part that outputs all the PDA pages, and just use it for the icon/waypoint name stuff.

You can do it easily by using a text editor like Notepad. First open the .loc file in EasyGPS and then do a save-as in .gpx format. Open this file with Notepad and use the "replace" function to change "<sym>Waypoint</sym>" to "<sym>Geocache</sym>". Click on "replace all" and then re-save the file.
