geocache name change

I am wondering if by changing my geoname, i lose all the geocaches i have found. I have been told by someone that i will. My surname is in it, and i would rather change it to something else. Help please

You keep your cache finds to date.

The only thing you need to change, if you've hidden any caches, is the 'Placed By' part in the cache description.

And.

For the forums you will need to log out of the forums, then log back in.

Otherwise you will still be under your old name!

 

(And, strangely, your first post in this thread may keep your old name)

Yep, you're good. I was not Mr. Yuck for over 7 years, and about 2,000 finds. Another thing you may see, and it's minor, if you edited a cache log way back when, you would still see "This log has been edited by [old username]" on such and such a date, if you looked at any old logs.
