How do I get the coordinates for my Cache?

My husband and I are noobs to caching with only 13 finds under our belts, however in the future we are planning to hide our own caches. My question is, how would I go about finding the coordinates for where I place my cache?

 

We do not have an actual GPS unit yet, so I'm using the GPS on my cell phone (a Samsung Fascinate w/Android). Am I able to find the coordinates this way? I've been trying to figure it out, just haven't been able to.

 

Any help would be greatly apprecaited!

Ideally you should not get the coordinates for hiding a cache from a phone. It is best to have a dedicated GPS unit for this. If you must use a phone, there are a number of 'averaging' apps for android. Use one of these and let it average for 5+ minutes on different days over a week or so. This will give you the most accuracy as possible.

Thank you all for the helpful information! I just downloaded the GPS Averaging app into my cellphone. We do not plan on hiding any caches for a little while since we're having so much fun finding them right now, plus I would like to research some more and get better ideas for caches. You need a GPSr, there is no other option.
