my daughter and i are new to the game, just today to be honest. We did a few today and do not find much challenge in just using GPS. is there a way to find more clue based Geocaches?? we did 3 today and two were totally GPS with no other way to find. any way to sort out the clue based from the gps based hunts??

If Geocaching isn't challenging enough for you, ditch the GPS and check out Letterboxing. Less high tech, very much clue based. Google Letterboxing North America and Atlas Quest: A Letterboxing Community

Traditional caches should always be at the exact coordinates listed. If you want something other than that, then look at other cache types: multi-caches, mystery/puzzle caches, letterbox hybrid caches, etc.

All of those need exact coordinates, just like traditionals. Letterboxes are the only exception. Letterbox hybrids are cross-listed and should have exact coords on the GC cache page, but I've run into a couple that don't.

There is no requirement that these caches use the exact coordinates of the final container. There is only a requirement that exact coordinates be an integral part of the hunt.

I've found a number of multi-caches and mystery/puzzle caches where exact coordinates were used for early stages, but where hints, distances, bearings, and other techniques were used to locate later stages, and even the final cache. (And the letterbox hybrids I've done have started with exact coordinates, but then used letterbox-style clues to take you to the final.)
