Montana Compass

Recommended Posts

Is anyone else having an issue with the Montana Compass being off by 10-15 degrees when standing still? I've run calibration multiple times but I always get 10-15 degrees off when standing still. When moving it corrects itself due to the coordinates changing enough to compute the direction of travel.

check to see if it's at the magnetic north instead of true north in lewiston idaho the angle of declination is 15 degrees

That is correct. The default for the GPS is true north. If you put it next to a regular compass it will be off by the declination number since it points to the giant iron blob and not the north pole.
