+hydnsek
April = Earth Day = CITO Groundspeak's 10th annual CITO weekend is April 21-22, and 10 CITO events are currently scheduled around Washington State during April, starting this weekend. Thanks to everyone who's organizing or participating in these events to support our parks. It's a win-win for us and the parks: The more we help our parks, the more support we get for geocaching from the land managers. Hope to see you at a CITO near you! +GrievousAngel
Our work party in the Pilchuck Tree Farm was great fun--we worked with members of several local horse clubs and even a few mountain bikers (whom the head of the work party, who prefers cachers, calls "free radicals") to build turnpikes (aka gravel paths with log sides) and puncheon (aka timber bridges over low/wet spots) on a trail through the woods. We shoveled and spread many yards of gravel brought in by quads and a tractor with a kamikaze driver, trenched a boggy area, installed a culvert, and built the bridge out of 6"x6"s. Las3Dogs came all the way from Friday Harbor, but mrgulllable and his wife came all the way from Vancouver, BC, for the second year in a row. The organizers made us a great lunch, the weather was beautiful, and I understand that a few caches were found as well. Please consider joining us next year--the horse people think cachers are awesome and tell us so often, and at the end of the day, it's really cool to see something you've made. Here's a Facebook album that should be viewable by all: https://www.facebook...=3&l=7c323d3639 (Apologies for the photos--I was using the camera on my phone.) +GeoReapers
Just got an event published for 6/30/2012 2012 CITO at Vancouver Lake Park Quote Link to comment
+Ambrosia
We had a great CITO yesterday. Unfortunately, the organizers weren't able to get the cache page up in time, so it was unofficial. Basically, a whole private gradeschool went to different sections of our 10 mile loop trail. Some of the teachers are geocachers, plus a bunch of local cachers were involved. I helped out with 10 kids in a park, ages (guessing) 5-12. We walked 1.5 miles and found 5 caches, picking up a bunch of trash along the way. We all had a great time! Quote Link to comment
DannyCaffeine
Wanted to do the Redmond one but, it looks like I will have to wait. Quote Link to comment
+hydnsek
Wanted to do the Redmond one but, it looks like I will have to wait. Come to the Bellevue/Issaquah CITO at Cougar this Saturday, instead! To avoid dueling CITOs in the same area on the same day, the Redmond one is being rescheduled.
