Please Help Me Understand The Guidelines....

Okay, to prove that I did learn something from this thread, I hid a cache yesterday afternoon. It was not at the location of my archived virtual cache we have been discussing, but at another location. Here's the cache:

I have made it so people have to view the historic site icon_smile.gif I hope that erik noticed it was mine when he approved it and that he took note that I did learn something. I am thinking of how I can hide a micro at my furnace site to get it approved and that leads me to a question about it. Can the archived one be edited by me then resubmitted? How would I go about resubmitting it for approval? Do I just email the person that denied it or, once done, can you take a look at it erik? Happy caching!

but I was suprised

I have learned a lot of things in this thread that have surprised me icon_smile.gif

I am going to get my virtual approved by adding a traditional cache at another location and somehow figure out a way to get people to the traditional one with info from the virtual. I know that the 'approvers' have a lot of caches to approve on any given day, but it does seems as if there are some arbitary decisions that take place when approving caches. I would like to thank erik for corresponding with me via email and offering me some great suggestions for getting mine approved. I would also like to echo the comments of others in stating that there should be some definite guidelines posted and possibly some examples list of what will not be approved. Happy caching!

I guess it could be difficult, but I think that it's crazy for me to have so much difficulty getting my virtual approved and here is one that got approved that can be done from your computer icon_frown.gif

Well, Jeff, the easy answer is look at the date. Thats one of the early locationless caches, it predates most of the current guidelines for vitual/locationless guidelines. Just like the infamous "Yellow Jeep" cache, it's grandfathered.

The more complete answer is it actually CAN'T be done from your computer. You need to find someone in another part of the world will to do the work for you. That person still needs to go locate a spot with his GPS, so in my opion, it's more geocaching then most other locationless caches.
