duncanhoyle
I'll be spending 4 days in Southend in April (for the British Juggling Convention) and wondered if anyone could recommend some fun/interesting caches to do in the area. I'm happy to travel 30 minutes or so but don't really want to go south of the estuary, although there are some interesting ones there. I'm planning to go for the one on the end of the pier and perhaps The Hadleigh Mega Tree Trail that's it so far. Thanks Duncan Edited March 30, 2012 by duncanhoyle Quote Link to comment

helennbrian
Six caches of the Great Garrison Cache Hunt in the former military base at Shoeburyness make a short stroll. Hadleigh Country Park to the east has a number of interesting caches, good views, earthcaches, remains of a castle, the site of the Olympic mountain bike events... just watch out that you don't get caught by a scarecrow. Just to the north is another country park with 'Round the Roach' caches and 'A cacher always...' caches. If you can get to it... 'The 39 steps' on the coast... but the military land needs to be open. If you want a long long walk there is the 50 caches of the PUBS series (just to the north. Loads of other caches around... Or perhaps you could give up the juggling and spend four days trying to find the 'Beamflote Beast'!! Happy caching. Quote Link to comment
ForsdykeFinders
Probably not the done thing to recommend one of your own but Fishermans Friend is my cache on the pier. There is a fee to go on the pier and it has been closed recently due to another collision. Estuary View - Cliffs Pavillion Micro also used to be mine but is now being far better looked after. Nice spot here in the gardens. Quote Link to comment

TonyNChelle
No clue on Caches there, but the Summerhill garden center on the Arterial road in to Basildon (You'll drive down that en-route I imagine) is fantastic. Great little cafe, fairly priced, and they have awesome bonsai trees for sale at OMGWTF prices (We drove there from Northamptonshire just for a tree) Quote Link to comment
duncanhoyle
I've just noticed that there's a Wherigo close by as well (http://coord.info/GC2QPH1). Having done my first ast weekend I'm keen to try another Quote Link to comment
