Geocoins / travel bugs in caches of other networks.

Personally, I would have thought this to be a bad idea as it will be "off the grid" so to speak. Won't be logged as being in their cache - would still be logged as being in a geocachers hands - rather than in a cache. Plus, when someone grabs it they might not be a member of geocaching.com so again... won't be correctly logged. So just doesn't sound like a good idea and probably shouldn't be done. Especially if you don't have the permission of the geocoins owner!!!

If coin will be dropped in a cache not registered on geocaching.com it will be lost for sure.

But if the cache is only cross-listed in another service ?

The geocacher may not be aware of that fact .

Even more - in some countries - majority of geocaching.com caches are cross-listed in local services.

Why would you do that? it defeats the purpose of tracking the trackable as it is no longer trackable on the other network and certainly impossible to track back into the proper system. On the other network it simply becomes a piece of swag... anybody can take it and keep it as it's no longer bound by the etiquette and guidelines that protects travelers. Not a good idea and one that would certainly upset the owner.

Definitely not. The cross-listed cache is interesting though. I hope that whoever would find it next would recognize it as part of the geocaching.com game and not take it as swag because they are doing the other game.

If the cacher knows that the cache is cross-listed, it might be wise to avoid dropping trackables into that cache.
