how to log out from android app?

Recommended Posts

hi all, i know this may seem like a daft question but i have no log out button showing on my android app,(Groundspeak app)

i have now disabled my gps and location facility for fear of being permanently connected whilst out and using tons of data unnecessarily. i dont want to uninstall it at a cost of over £6.00 in case i have to pay for it again, which i wont,,,

i am running the latest android software on my HTC desire phone.

anybody have any ideas please.

many thanks in advance.

I'm confused. Why do you feel you have to log out? Isn't closing the program enough?

Some Apps seem to stay running and connect when you thought they were not in use (I'm looking at you "Words With Friends").

I'm pretty sure the official App is very light on the connection, and also halts when you open another App.

thanks to all who replied, in answer to "confused" the reason for logging out is the risk of using my data if the app is running in the background,,,,,(its not unlimited you see), however thanks to Kunarian if the app stops running when its closed this may be the answer. will run with it and see.

thanks all, now to go a hunting,,,,have 3 caches within 200/300 yards of the front door,,,

If it does not stop running when closed, I wouldn't know. But I have 35$/month unlimited talk, text, and data, so it isn't a worry for me.

One problem with Android is that you can seem to close an app, but it is actually still running in the background. To make sure all apps are closed, you need to hold the Home button until the Recent menu pops up, then click on "Task Manager." Alternatively, you can click on "Task Manager" under Applications, or click on the "Active Applications" widget if you have it installed. If any apps are still running, you can click on "Exit" to end that single app, or click on "Exit All" to close all of them at once.

Note that this won't close any services that are running in the background. To do that, you need to click on Menu button, then Settings, then Applications, then Running Services. As you can see, Geocaching.com does not leave any services running in the background, but you may discover other apps that do which you may want to stop.
