+nyhof Posted March 11, 2012 Share Posted March 11, 2012 I use a Garmin Dakota 20 and an iPhone4. Both are very accurate when I search for caches and I have not had problems making finds with either. When I hide a cache, there is about a 65 foot difference between the two. Which one do I trust? Why is there such a difference between the coordinates? Any suggestions? Quote Link to comment

I use both a garmin and iPhone 4s, and sometimes the phone is more accurate, but consistently the garmin is more steady and accurate. I've hidden a cache with a 3GS and my cords are spot on, so it's do-able, but if you have a garmin, use it... Quote Link to comment
+CacheFreakTim Posted March 11, 2012 Share Posted March 11, 2012 For "finding" I think both are adequate and very similar in terms of accuracy. When hiding though I would go with the Garmin. The main reason is most stand alone units have a feature called waypoint averaging which takes a GPS reading over a period of time (usually a couple minutes) to get an exact reading of where the cache will be hidden at.
