Search for Charlotte, NC ends up in South Pacific

I was searching for caches for a trip we were planning today. I typed in "Charlotte, NC" in the search box on the home page of geocaching.com, and it takes you to some place in the south Pacific near Australia. I also tried opening the geocaching.com maps, and typed "Charlotte, NC" into the search box on those, and the same thing happened. If I open up MapQuest, and type the same thing in, it shows North Carolina. I'm guessing it is a geocaching.com thing. Haven't had any other problems like this, only Charlotte.

That "some place" is New Caledonia, which also has the abbreviation "NC". The coordinates put you smack in the middle of the island. It must be mistakenly identifying the "NC" as a country code rather than a state code.

Others have posted on here having issues with the search over the last couple of months. Groundspeak changed the address-search provider a little while back, and apparently it isn't very good.

I was just about to figure out what the NC stood for in the search results. I knew it had to match to something!
