+jpd43
I am curious as to why I have so many souvenirs with no artwork? I have to click on the souvenir to see the artwork for it. Also, I have cached in several countries and have not gotten their souvenirs, wonder why. Quote Link to comment
+hzoi
For US and German state souvenirs, that's just the way the thumbnail icons were designed. Canada got fancier ones for the provinces. Outside of Canada, Germany, and the US, so far only a handful of countries have their own souvenirs -- the Czech Republic, Portugal, Poland, and Slovakia. Bulgaria's souvenir was announced months ago but has yet to be implemented. The art has been completed for a number of other countries (mostly in Europe and Japan, if I recall correctly), but those have yet to be implemented as well. Quote Link to comment
+GeoYakker
Hello, I was just looking at souvenirs and had this same question. For Italy, the icon in my souvenirs list matches the artwork on the souvenirs page. For US states, and for Japan, the icon is much simpler. Is it really that hard to make each icon match the artwork? It's not a question of difficulty. Most of the ones that match are just a cropping of a portion of the full artwork. They just decided that when souvenirs were implemented for US States and German Bundeslander (which occurred over the same time period) they they'd make the icons look similar, with a 2 character abbreviation for each state. After that, *most* country souvenirs had a icon that was similar (often a cropped portion) of the full artwork but there were exceptions (Japan, France, Czechia) where the icon and full artwork were very different.
