GPX 1.0.1

So, I notice that there's an option for PQs, GPX 1.0 and GPX 1.0.1.

Try searching for it.

Even quoted as "GPX 1.0.1", the silly search engine here renders that as "GPX 101." So I get a bunch of beginners' threads.

How do I find out the difference between the two GPX formats, 1.0 and 1.0.1?

And why is the search engine here so incredibly lame?

Attributes apparently

I Googled "gpx versions" and found Differences in GPX 1.0, 1.01, and 1.1 What are they?????

PS "gpx versions" seems to work on the forum search engine as well

Yes attributes. When version 1.0.1 was introduced with the attributes in the gpx files some units choked and bricked when fed the version 1.0.1 gpx. The version 1.0, which is what we originally had, does not have attributes and it was brought back so those that had units that could not deal with attributes could be loaded.

Just adding that GPX 1.0.1 isn't really GPX 1.0.1, but rather GPX 1.0 with the Groundspeak extensions version 1.0.1.

And no, Garmins can't handle attributes natively. There's some tricks you can pull to make them visible (convert them to text and put them into a description or a fake log entry etc).
