Good call. I've been wanting to visit St. Helens again. Since the Sounders schedule is out, I can plan my summer weekends now.

If you want to do a spring climb, the permits are free and unlimited until Mother's Day. You just need to register at the Fir Resort in Cougar. The climb might be a little longer because Climber's Bivouc may not be accessible, but you can start at the Marble Mountain Snowpark.

 

The trip down is a hoot. Last year, I glissaded. This year I'm skiing down!

Don't forget you can also climb during the off season for free and there is no limit on the number of permits issued. The off season runs November 1 through March 31. This year that March 31 cutoff is on a Saturday! What will the difference be between a climb on Saturday and a climb on Sunday? $22!
