Seems like one poster has decided to bring these old threads back to life (looks like it was 4wheelin fool to me)

Who knows why? Stirring the pot would be my guess.

Posted

It was caused by excessive thread bumping. :anibad:

Shall I start a topic to protest about that too? ;)

MrsB

Yes please, then maybe we can find out the justification for one member taking the time to bump all of them to post basically the same thought in each of them. Borderline spam really.

Agreed, if he had a point to make he could easily have made it in one of the more recent threads on the subject. Seems pointless to dig up a dozen old threads to say the same thing. But like I say, they are probably trying to stir the pot here.

January 28th is lamppost safety and awareness day. :)

Hiding caches among live wires INSIDE lamposts is very hazardous, and should be avoided. After reading the related threads, I decided to freshen them up a bit and air them out. Enjoy !! :D

They are there for your reading pleasure.

There are still caches that exist which are hidden among LIVE wires.

Great, now maybe Keystone or another mod can merge them all together into one thread since they are all now about the same issue. Those of us how are quite tired of seeing this information can then start an argument, get the one super-thread locked and not have to worry about this rather childish event of excessive thread bumping ever happening again.

These topics keep on reappearing every month, because of lack of awareness. The topic reappears like a bad case of foot fungus. There appears to be a great need to discuss it.

You do not have to reply or read any of them.

They can be avoided much easier than filtering out a LPC..

After scrolling through all of that trying to find something new and interesting I would certainly vote for this idea. Heck, I might even help with the fight, after I go find a few caches....

Yes, that would be nice - a Super Merge!

Or maybe the oldest ones could be locked tight allowing only the fresh, young, vibrant topics to leap joyously into view?

Maybe I should be thankful that we don't have LPCs here in UK.

And I don't think we have many stuck onto electrical power boxes... at least we've never found one... telephone junction boxes - yes (a few).

Ok, that's it. I'm going out right now and I'm going to find some LPCs and some electrical box caches. I need to be more aware of them today.

<joke>

But the current system doesn't have any way to search for these caches. I demand that new attributes be added so I can search for LPCs and electrical box caches through a PQ!!

I'm shocked! :o

The only shocking thing is 4WF didn't get a temporary ban for bumping them. :P

Just kidding 4WF, I think you're in the clear by now.

I didn't bother to look at each topic in turn to see the details, I was just frustrated at seeing so much repetitive stuff appear all together as soon as I started to look at the forum. <_<

Please don't do it again. :(

So reading a list of repetitious thread topics would be annoying in a similar way, such as finding similar hides?:D

That's OK though, I am now fully on board with January 28th being exposed wire awareness day. Or whatever it's called.

They woukd be a lot easier to ignore if you didn't thread bump them so that most of the threads on the first page are related to LPC and Electrical caches. I don't suppose it occurred to you that by bumping all the old threads about topics about your pet peeve topics most of the spots on the front page are now taken up by those topics and now all the other, and for many, more interesting topics are now harder to find. Sounds like forum abuse to me.

And its really all about one particular lamp post cache that he can't seem to get archived. Talk about live wires!!

How come the "forum schedule" hasn't been mentioned here yet?

Simple. Because everyone that agrees with the forum schedule is keeping to the forum schedule. It isn't time yet to talk about the forum schedule. Actually, come to think about it. I don't recall talking about the forum schedule being on the forum schedule at all.

I have never, EVER seen MrsB post anything like this thread. Just the fact that she said something at all, no matter how politely, should make it quite clear that this was a serious breach in forum etiquette. I am frankly surprised that no mod has yet made even a comment about all these zombies walking about amongst us.

If they archived those caches, we wont see these threads anymore <_<

Oh yeah!!

I betcha a pound of bacon that there would soon be a 'bring back' topic!!

There are a bunch of people hiding them. They must like it??

(Don't bother researching it. Yes, I have hunted some, but I'll never hide an LPC.)

We need 5 more posts of "If you don't like the thread, don't read it", 2 posts comparing it to ice cream flavors, 7 more agreeing with the OP while giving examples of their own experience, and 45 off topic posts, before we can retire this thread. Step up to the plate, folks!

(BTW my thread is not about placing or not placing LPCs, but about copper wire thieves pretending to be utility workers cutting wire from lamp posts)

I would just like to take the time to thank Snoogans for the inspiration. It was a combination of safety awareness issues in the spirit of Snoogan's bump day that was the source of inspiration. Although I did not fill an entire page with topics but only managed a quarter or so, it still made a difference on the subject of lampost safety awareness.

Coming up: needle awareness day!! :D

I didn't like this thread, and I read it anyway!

Kinda like when you start to eat spumoni ice cream and you realize it has those awful thingies in it? Who in their right mind would put awful tasting thingies in something beautiful and pure like ice cream?

My experience with LPCs is that they're really embarrassing and LOUD.

OK - we're good? We're down a couple now - have I stepped up to the plate enough? I suppose I could give more examples. :)

Thank you for finding my LPC in JC. LOL. right in a bad spot that will force people to double look at you. LOL I have a story of a LPC behind Wally World off of west 11th and it was xmas day and it was so loud that the security came out in a hurry. I thought he was going to gun me down.

Snoogans is not a jerk, so I expect he will not be particularly pleased to be thanked. I am astonished that you were not given a mandatory vacation from the forums for your behavior.

You have, however, lost what credibility you had with me on these forums, so congrats on that.

Like we all go researching someone's find or hide history when they make a comment. Ok, maybe that has happened before. By the way, I can't stand when someone refers to "hunting" caches, in any form. Thanks for the hunt, I was out on a cache hunt, I have hunted some, etc..

MrsB, if you smack him upside the snout, I will not report you. (I will probably applaud you.)

I already have applauded her. Can you imagine what this forum would be like if everybody bumped every ancient thread that had something to do with their pet peeve?
