+Weary Banker & Bookworm
For many years now, after I have solved a Puzzle cache, I have entered the new coordinates into my GSAK database as a separate entry with X replacing the G in the GC number. Giving it a different symbol means that it is easily spotted when it appears on my MemoryMap. One of the drawbacks to this system is that the XC (solved) entry remains in the database even if the original is archived and is automatically removed . I have decided to try and use the 'corrected coordinate' facility on the cache page but this does not seem to amend the original coordinates on my subsequent PQ. Also is it possible to change the ? symbol for something else to show that the puzzle has been solved? I know that this may seem a bit old fashioned to all of you cachers that carry the latest online gadgetry but hopefully there are still a few of us dinosaurs left to help. Quote Link to comment

I use this facility all the time. The best advice I can give is to use a filter to highlight the solved puzzles, and use Rutson's excellent Memory Map export macro to display caches on Memory Map. The macro has a different icon for solved puzzles. I normally filter using "Date found by me", and "Corrected Coordinates" (under the "Other" tab). There is also a "Corrected Coordinates" indicator which you can display in the list. I'm not sure what you mean by "this does not seem to amend the original coordinates on my subsequent PQ". +Stuey
Hi John, I use the corrected co-ordinates option in GSAK. Right click the cache within the GSAK list, then choose Corrected Co-ordinates. Type them in, and those co-ords will hold against that cache, even if you delete all caches from your database and then re-load the gpx file into gsak. I have a separate database of corrected co-ordine caches which I load over the top of other databases that I may have created (but only match "existing" caches) and it will correct the relevant ones in that particular database. Corrected co-ords seem to be database specific. I don't use the corrected co-ords in geocaching.com. Instead, I type the corrected co-ords into the note field when I solve them. That way I can see them when I browse to a cache using mobile internet (in case of GPS failure). Quote Link to comment
+Bear and Ragged
Use the corrected coordinates column, and add the corrected coordinates. I use special tag %correct=* which adds * at the start of the cache name or number eg *GC12345 or *smartname if the cache has solved/corrected coordinates when sending to the GPS. It also works on MemoryMap. (Its edited, the original tag also adds something to the start of uncorrected coordinates...) Edited January 26, 2012 by Bear and Ragged Quote Link to comment
+BCNorwich
Hello There, Also when using Rutson's excellent Memory Map export macro to display caches on Memory Map if you check the box "Display Spiders" the solved ? is displayed at the corrected coordinates and a line is drawn back to a large blue dot at the original coordinate. Also is it possible to change the ? symbol for something else to show that the puzzle has been solved? I tend to add a note to my solved puzzles in GSAK and any that appear in my local area without a note I look at and solve them well some of them anyway Currently if you download a corrected puzzle/multi on its own straight from the site or by using the API it will bring the corrected coordinates over and into GSAK, but PQ's do not do this YET (it is on its way). Currently PQ's bring the owner's posted coordinates. Part of the new PQ roll out will bring corrected coordinates, links to pictures and your notes from the cache page amongst other things. I've always added Child Coordinates in GSAK with the 'final location type. When I export for Memory Map any final locations (and stages, parking etc) get added as waypoints with the relevant icon. They also get exported with the GPX export as well. I've never investigated the Corrected Coordinate facility as what I do now works for mee. Quote Link to comment
+Weary Banker & Bookworm
Great to receive the quick responses. From a quick read through, it looks as if there are a few different answers to my problem. Many thanks to all for taking the time. Quote Link to comment
