+Mad H@ter Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) I've just been having a look back at some of the event caches I've organised in the past and came across this quote I made back in 2004: Their are 20 caches within 2 miles, 40 within 5 miles and an extraordinary 100 within 15 miles Oxford was considered at that time to have a high cache density Edited January 23, 2012 by Mad H@ter Quote
+FuzzyBears Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Yep know what you mean, when we started a year later our nearest 500 not done caches covered about 80 miles inland from us. We now do 8x500 PQs to get about 2800 caches which cover a smaller area just to get the ones we haven't done. (I know we could do bigger PQs but it suits the way I organise my data and the way we cache ) Quote
+Von-Horst Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I don't think I've got that many "extraordinary" caches within 15 miles of where I live even today! [] Quote

+Lieblweb Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) My husband and I were actually introduced to geocaching back in 2002. We found 2 caches.... and they were in the woods and 30+ miles away from our house!! So, needless to say....we lost interest because it was just too far to drive for ONE cache. This past April, we got back into geocaching again and we could not believe how many caches there are today and how close they are from our house!! There are at least 5 caches within walking distance across the street in the local park. I absolutely LOVE IT!!! Anywhere you go, there's a cache..... There are soooo many different types, containers, hikes, bike rides, kayak trips, climbing...... We love it!!!! We got our bikes out of the shed after 15 years. We've considered buying kayaks.... We've made special 'tools' for finding caches and we've made special containers for our own hides. It's a great hobby!! I think now - our PQ's (excluding what we've found - obviously) are close to 5,000 caches in a 15 mile radious of our house. Edited January 24, 2012 by Lieblweb Quote
