Road trip through NM, AZ, south UT, southwest CO

Going on a 2 week road trip with my family this summer and was wondering if there are any awesome caches that I shouldn't miss grabbing on our route. So far this is the planned route:

Starting in Dallas, TX headed west through El Paso, TX.

West I-10/North I-25 through Las Cruces, NM headed toward(but not through) Albuquerque, NM.

Head west to Flagstaff, AZ from there to the Grand Canyon.

After visting the Grand Canyon we will be going to the Bryce Canyon National Park in UT.

From there we will head to the Four Corners monument and then head to Pagosa Springs, Co

After there we will head back south through Roswell, NM and then head back home.

Thanks for any help...hopefully I won't have to do much begging and pleading to get them to make caching stops. I'm currently working on trying to convince them that it would be worth it to visit Havasu Falls in AZ but not having any luck so far.

There is a TB hotel at the Grand Canyon not far from the parking lot just before you enter the park. From there to 4 Corners is barren, for the most part, because you are on tribal land. Cortez has some and naturally Durango does too. There are a few between Durango and Pagosa Springs, and several in Pagosa are within walking distance of each other.

I would recommend a stop between Flagstaff and GCNP that will get you three caches at one location; it's a lava tube that you hike through, at this location you will get Earth, Virtual, & Traditional. Plus it's a great experience that you will never forget.

Lava River Cache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=5f64af91-311b-4ae9-a9bd-04d78805b94b

Lava Tube http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=9d91acc0-68f3-49d0-a1cf-66596e501b3d

After GCNP while heading up to BryceCNP I would recommend Horseshoe Bend Overlook http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=04ebdcf9-84fe-44e8-826a-477f9a42ca0b

outside of Page.

Then when at Bryce do Avalanche of Wall Street BCNP http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=cdc15a41-4f2c-4de8-9517-8684b381ce1b

If you have the time ZionNP is between GCNP & BCNP and it is beautiful. I know you'll have a great trip; and yes Havasupai is awesome but you don't have the time to do it justice, especially considering the permit required - sounds like a return trip is in order. If you come back to AZ, stop in the Prescott area to do a few of "The Raven" caches; they will all bring a smile to your face. Check them out, he is awesome.

Enjoy your trip!
