+Cheminer Will
I am not always the most efficient searcher, but I could not find the way to make my profile visible to the public. Sometimes I send people to check out geocaching and they can browse the site, but can not seem to view my profile unless they create an account. I tested it myself when logged out and indeed got the message that I needed to login to see that profile. What I am looking for is the setting where I can make it visible to anyone. Thanks! Keystone
It's not possible to view profiles unless the reader is signed in under a Geocaching.com account. Quote Link to comment
+Cheminer Will
Oh. Has this ability been requested as a feature? If so what was the reason for not allowing that as an option? Thanks. Edited January 8, 2012 by Cheminer Will Quote Link to comment
Keystone
IIRC, it used to be that people could view profiles even if not logged in. One reason for the change is privacy. Among other things, Geocaching.com profiles can, at the user's option, include their email address "in the clear." A spider bot could crawl through profiles to harvest email addresses for spamming and other nefarious purposes. Quote Link to comment
+Cheminer Will
OK, thanks for the explanation as to why I could not find a way to set it to public visibility. Quote Link to comment
