Geo Tagging Spoiler Photo's

Are there any plans to tag spoiler photo's with the lat/lon of the cache in question (maybe with an option not to tag them as they are uploaded if it's a pic not at the location) ?

It would be a useful feature for those of us with photo viewers, it's a pain having to tag each individual pic.

A 'Copy to GPS' button on or next to the picture would be useful as well :)

Ideal way to spoil/ruin Mystery/Unknown caches and Multicaches, if pictures are tagged with the location...

The site really should remove such EXIF data from photo's, unless it's a cache owner using such a photo as part of clues on the cache page.

Why would it do that? All such caches have a published set of co ordinates but they are not the final co ordinates so the pictures would not lead you to the final location.

They do.

So the technology is there to remove existing tags, so it must be posible to replace them with the published location of the cache they are being uploaded to as a spoiler?

Don't see where this breaches 'privacy' or ruins mystery caches etc any more than the picture already does. Many GPSr devices now include navigation to a photo as well, so it could open up another cache type option. My initial thoughts were that it simply adds another 'hint' that can be viewed from the GPS whilst on the hunt.

Spoiler photos should not be uploaded. If you want to record where your photos were taken, you can sync the clock of your camera to the clock on your GPS device (down to the second) and then use software to match the coordinates of each track to a photo taken at the corresponding time.

Cache owners who want to use EXIF data as clues for a puzzle cache can use an external image hosting site, then embed the photo on their cache page. I don't see how adding the published coordinates of a cache into the EXIF data of photos uploaded in the gallery could be useful to many people, and that is what Groundspeak considers when adding features like this.

In your original post, you specified "the lat/lon of the cache", NOT the published coordinates. That is what raised most of the hackles.

Still the whole thing just complicates the process, irritates many, and would only serve a few people. Many of us could not use that feature anyhow, I'd be glad to see the page description itself let alone the pictures. I just make condensed notes.
