+johnnyfoundthespot Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I know the only dumb question is one not asked but I am almost afraid to ask but here goes, "what is a bison tube"? I have seen it mentioned several times but I am not sure what it is. And it is OK to laugh! Thanks. Quote

+popokiiti Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 (edited) Bison tube - small, cylindrical tube. Have a look at the top 3 here. edit to add - please don't be afraid to ask questions - see my sig line! Edited January 5, 2012 by popokiiti Quote
+niraD Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Here's another reference with a photo of various size Bison tubes: http://www.cacheopedia.com/wiki/Bison_tube Quote
+briansnat Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Plenty of photo examples already. The name comes from the company that originally sold them, Bison Designs. In the beginning there were two sizes, small and very small. Now any small, aluminum tubular container is commonly called a Bison Tube by geocachers. Quote

The OP apparently is relatively new to our hobby and to this forum and asked a simple question. Granted, a Google search would have answered his question, but isn't that what this forum is all about, helping someone with a question? Remember, we all started out with little knowledge of geocaching, and either learned on our own, or read this forum to learn. Remember, you only get one chance at a first impression. Quote

+niraD Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Keep in mind too that this is the "Getting Started" forum. Here, it's better to answer all questions (even LMGTFY questions) as helpfully as possible. Quote
+johnnyfoundthespot Posted January 6, 2012 Author Posted January 6, 2012 Thanks all for the replies and information. I did say it was ok to laugh so I took the smart-aleck response as I hope it was intended.... Or maybe they did not know what it is and was their best attempt! Quote

Because no matter how hard some people try, they just can't say anything nice. Just wait until you get into the non-Getting Started forums. +Ladybug Kids Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 (edited) If those are round; and GC come in square plastic sleeves; how well do they fit? Micro to 1.5" geocoins would probably fit fine with their sleeves. "Oversize" coins, less so. The stated geocoin capacity was for coins not in sleeves. Edited January 7, 2012 by Ladybug Kids Quote
+Team Pixos Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Thanks for the reply; I've never seen traveling coins not in a sleeve. Quote
