uncletom10
Hi all, I have a Garmin etrex vista and it has been acting up. 1. It takes for ever to find satellites 2. Satellites drop in and out. Looses them. 3.Sometimes the screen goes to a vertical line. I have changed the battery's several times. I have calibrated the compass. I did a search and there is a update to 3.8. I have now 3.6. Would this help. I dont have the cord to do this with. I would like it to work like it use to. Thanks for any and all help. +PDOP's
There was a problem with an older version of the firmware which caused the problems you're seeing so I would do the upgrade. You also try disabling WAAS on your Vista as IIRC the problem was related to having that setting enabled. Quote Link to comment
+mpilchfamily
Sounds like you either need to buy a cable for the unit or buy a new unit. Personally i would get the cable. It much cheaper. Quote Link to comment

uncletom10
Well, i made the cord. It turned out pretty good. But my Garmin etrex vista says to check wiring when it scans under the garmin screen. I have checked the cord with 2 different websites and that it appears to b e correctly made. Also the webupdater doesn't recognize the garmin either. What am i doing wrong? Im so close. Quote Link to comment
