+ftscgb
My beloved Colorado 400t finally bit the dust after many years and many miles of dirt/mountain bike mapping. The usb connection broke and Garmin will only replace not repair the unit. If I'm going to replace the thing I wanted to see what others are using, any thoughts on the new gpsmap 62 for biking? +myotis
I also loved my CO 400T for mapping trails and bike riding. When mine died, I got an OR 550T and I like it much better than the CO. It does a great job on mapping trails. I also like it because of the camera. When I am GPSing stuff for my trail maps http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/53 many times I use the camera to take a picture of something I want to add to the map. That is much easier than marking waypoints and either remembering what it is ar editing the waypoint with the GPS to describe what I am marking. The picture is georeferenced so I can open the picture in BaseCamp or MapSource (after exporting from BaseCamp), see what it is, and then add it to my maps. Quote Link to comment
+sv_ted
I use an Oregon 450 for mountain biking/geocaching. It works fine for me. I use the standard Garmin bike mount and it has never come loose. Quote Link to comment
+Walts Hunting
The screen on the Montana is so superior to the Oregon (when I had that I was always moving it around to get the sun on it so I could see it) that it has made biking much nicer. If you can afford it there is nothing better. Oh and I got a rammount for it. Quote Link to comment
+Redwoods Mtn Biker
The 62s is great for mountain biking and probably the way to go unless you can afford a Montana. Quote Link to comment
