Sambro Lighthouse geocoin

The Sambro Island Light is located at the entrance to Halifax Harbour in Nova Scotia, Canada. It is the oldest surviving lighthouse in North America. It was first lit in 1758 and has been operational ever since.

The front of the coin is a depiction of the first order Fresnal lens that was installed in the lighthouse in 1906. The eight-foot tall lens now resides in the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The back of the coin shows the lighthouse on Sambro Island (the beam glows in the dark).

This coin was designed by local geocacher Mr_Warhead.
