+thehoomer Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 Do any of you know if there is a way of searching for 'old' caches? In our opinion (for the most part) older caches seem to be of better quality and we always try to integrate one into a planned caching trip. GCHD5K was yesterdays offering and it was without doubt, the highlight of our day. For us at least, a feature whereby you can search for a cache of a certain age would be most welcome. Anyone know? +thehoomer Posted October 30, 2011 Author Posted October 30, 2011 Use the date filters when making a PQ... As simple as that? On a scale of 1-10, how embarrassed do I currently feel? Thanks very much. Quote

If you are a premium member then just click on 'placed' once to get the newest cache in your radius and then click it again for the oldest. Quote
+thehoomer Posted October 30, 2011 Author Posted October 30, 2011 Of course, I knew all that. I was just checking that everyone was awake . Sometimes, its the things which are staring you in the face which are the hardest to see ! I shall now bow out, red faced. Thanks very much. Quote
+Bear and Ragged Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 However... Keep an eye on the Published date, it's not unknown for cache owners to set an older date... I have a PQ for the UK oldest, and had a couple of 'new' caches appear in it. Seems they are 'new' caches to replace a couple of old caches that had previously been Archived. Quote
I! Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) GCHD5K was yesterdays offering and it was without doubt, the highlight of our day. When you log it, will yours be the first of 100+ finds to be accompanied by a favourite vote? I've not found old hides of the same size and type to be any better than new ones in general. EDIT: no, hang on, that's not true: it seems I've favourited more old than new (and I don't think that's just because they were larger containers). Huh. Edited October 31, 2011 by I! Quote

It looks looks like we will be the only one to give it a favpo when we do eventually log it. I could go on now, about how I don't understand how a pointless micro can be awarded an accolade, yet this little gem falls off cachers radar's......but I wont. Suffice it to say we are all different. We have awarded lots of favpo's to caches on the basis of their ingenuity but most of them have been awarded because they have taken us to places of great interest as this one did. Quote
