Bill93
I saw a reference to an interesting article about the markers placed by Andrew Ellicott in 1791/1792 to mark the boundary of the District of Columbia. It doesn't relate to geodetic monuments, but it did mention our mentor Dave Doyle as leading a recovery project in 1991/1992. http://www.boundarystones.org/ There are lot of clickable links to details of various points and also bibliograpy. +spotter/g
I got to find one SW9, back in 2007. It was near a cache, http://coord.info/GCYYVW it was pretty cool! Quote Link to comment
square nail
Thank you Bill93 for sharing this very cool article. I will be up an extra hour looking at all the photos. Now I have a reason to go to DC. Thanks again!! Gary Quote Link to comment
jbuffethed
I am headed to DC after this deployment, it would be awesome to find one of these. Hoping for Numero Uno. Quote Link to comment
+Black Dog Trackers
There are some waymarks for these historic DC boundary markers. If you check out the South boundary stone (the first one set; 1791), be sure to visit the 5" disk HV1667 only a few yards away. Quote Link to comment
