Hoblik
Some time ago we had a nice chat with friends about geocache hunting, FTF hunting - so we were thinking: Who would be the greatest (or biggest) hunter? And we have found one. The one who would be hunting not for caches, but for cachers. And he would only count FTFs. Here is the first draft design of the possible geocoin. Hope you like the concept, feedback is welcome before we go for final design and production. Edited November 29, 2011 by Eartha Quote Link to comment
+avroair
Looks cool! Will the back side have a gritty effect or be filled with translucence? You could also do the foot print recessed into the metal. Quote Link to comment
+geoquino
Looks really good. Just the text "cacher hunter" seems to be too close to the claws. Quote Link to comment
+manu luq
It looks real!, don't know if after watching this coin will be the same out hunting for caches... hunt or be hunted Quote Link to comment
+bjm3rd
That's awesome looking. Can't wait to get one!!! Quote Link to comment
+Jackalgirl
I like it, especially the head on the front. Very nicely done! I agree that "cacher hunter" seems a tad too close to the claws at the top of the coin. I'd recommend dropping the text size a point or two, and also playing with the character spacing on "cacher" since there's more space between the left and middle digits of the print than there are between the middle & right digits. +badger10
How about making the claws with a jewel of some kind? I also like the idea of a recessed foot print. How about having the t-rex face be raised (relief) and the teeth with a little edge to it. I could also see this as a series! Quote Link to comment
+EyeD10T
Very nice - good job. Cant wait to see them Quote Link to comment
Hoblik
Thanks everybody for great comments and suggestions. We are reworking the back side of the coin with footprints and do some more general fine tuning. Will share the result soon. Quote Link to comment
+juraf369
Very nice geocoin. Good idea. Juraf369 Quote Link to comment
Hoblik
Here is the revised design. We wanted to keep it simple to let the head come out. On the backiside we have played a little more with the idea of tyrannosarus hunting for the lonely cacher. Thus the human footprints are below the t-rex footprint. There will be different textures on certain levels to increase the footprint contrast and skin feel. Quote Link to comment
+DsrtMtnRox
I love it!!! What about hiking boot foot prints instead of bare feet? We wouldn't want to be running around bushwacking with bare feet! Can't wait until you are done! Good Luck! Quote Link to comment
Hoblik
Samples have just arrived, this one is antique copper. We will probably make also antique silver, antique gold or antique bronz, and possibly also black nickel. Quote Link to comment
+manu luq
Awesome, I'll need at least one for my collection! Quote Link to comment
+mpilchfamily
Looks great. We don't see too many nice and simple coins anymore. Sure coins with allot of color and enamel are nice. But there is something to be said for a nice simple coin like this. I Love It! How thick is the coin? Quote Link to comment
+yanagi
Congratulation for this great coin. I also would like to order some! Quote Link to comment
+geoquino
How thick is the coin? Please tell us both dimensions. Edited November 4, 2011 by geoquino Quote Link to comment
Hoblik
How thick is the coin? Please tell us both dimensions. Geocoin is 1.75" in diameter, 3.5 mm thick frame. High relief of the head is raised above the frame so it makes roughly 4 mm thickness all together. Weight is 45 grams. Quote Link to comment
+DsrtMtnRox
I'm in! Let us know when they arrive! Quote Link to comment
+Team_Romeo
Nice! I just showed this thread to my junior geocachers and they LOVED it. You combined their eagerness for all things dino with their passion for geocaching. Quote Link to comment

Hoblik
We have decided for the following four versions to be produced: We would like to try to get the coins to those interested before Christmas. Based on the production schedule we should be able to ship geocoins in the first week of December. In order to be able to ship the coins as soon as possible we have prepared a pre-order possibility. Please see a pre-order at our gecoin site NB: For those outside EU the tax will be deducted during checkout. Quote Link to comment

Hoblik
Wow, it turned out great! I sure would like one of these but I really find the price is too dear, especially after conversion If you live in Australia you can divide the price by 1.2 to see the price withou tax, which would not apply. Price includes 20% tax, which does not apply when shipping anywhere outside European union. Edited December 8, 2011 by Hoblik Quote Link to comment
+gardengorilla
Hi! I'm not in Australia anymore (I wish!) but we moved back to Canada. So, are you saying that the price on the site includes this tax? oooh! now I see it on your original post:rolleyes: Edited December 8, 2011 by gardengorilla Quote Link to comment
+Six Little Spookies
Mine arrived yesterday. I love how the T Rex head is coming out of the front of the coin and how it says "Cacher Hunter" on the back! Quote Link to comment
+yanagi
Got mine today. Great coins, I love them! Quote Link to comment
+Kochibu
The coin looks really sweet. Just one thing...T-Rex wasn't a hunter, he was carrion feeder so in reality he'd most likely not get lots of FTF *duck* Edited December 12, 2011 by Kochibu Quote Link to comment

Just one thing...T-Rex wasn't a hunter, he was carrion feeder so in reality he'd most likely not get lots of FTF *duck* Ah, the great, "Was T. rex a hunter or scavenger" debate. This debate is very much unsettled! I side with Calvin (of Calvin and Hobbes) when he says, in essence: "of course they were hunters! Because it would be totally bogus if they just ate things that were already dead!" Quote Link to comment

Hoblik
We have done small additonal production of two variants of the coin - antique silver and antique gold are available through our updated geocoin site. Quote Link to comment
