THOMASONES
At the risk of getting a load of abuse from some of those who know more about this than I am going to I do I need to ask - I am considering purchasing an Oregon 450 - Once I have purchased the unit is there anything else I will need to buy/download before I can start Geocaching. I am in the UK Quote Link to comment
EdrickV
If you run Windows, you may want to try (and possibly buy) GSAK. (You can try it for free, after a certain amount of time there is a nag screen though. Once v8 gets out of Beta I'll likely be buying it.) Quote Link to comment
Bear and Ragged
As it is? Go straight out -once you've loaded the caches you want to do! Worth registering it via http://www.geocaching.com/garmin/freetrial.aspx and getting an extra 30 days on your Premium Membership, unless that's how you got PM! Maps? Free from Talkytaster can be found over in the UK and Ireland side of these forums GSAK is worth taking a look at. And so is http://www.follow-the-arrow.co.uk written by one of the UK reviewers. +Cacheoholic
Don’t forget to put a good screen protector on it. Quote Link to comment
EdrickV
Didn't think of this earlier, but if you decide you want to do Wherigo caches, (if there even are any near you) you'd have to download the associated cartridges onto the GPS. Quote Link to comment
Steve0512
A good set a rechargeable batteries and a charger. The merits of both have been debated to death here so do a little searching and you will find plenty of info. Quote Link to comment
