I´ll visit Oslo

Hello,

I'll visit Oslo next week from Wednesday, 05.10. until Saturday, 08.10.2011.

 

Maybe someone could help me.

 

I have two questions:

 

1. Which Caches are must-have in Oslo

2. I want to stay as cheap as possible. Does someone know a cheap accommodation?

I don't know a lot about accommodation here, unfortunately. There are some youth hostels in town, this one comes to my mind as pretty central, but I have no idea about how the prices and standards compare to other places.

 

Must-have caches... Well, what are your plans for transportation? Do you want only caches within walking distance from the center of Oslo, are you willing to use public transportation, or even rent a car? Do you plan to do city caches only, or would you also go for a hike (several areas are accessible by public transportation)?

I recommend taking the subway to the Holmenkollen ski jump area. Excellent sightseeing, and many nice (and large!) caches. I like these a lot, but there are many more:

15 minutes outside Oslo by car, might be able to reach it with public transport, DEFINITELY worth a visit!

Hiking caches:

If the weather is nice, I'm thinking that one day in the woods would be nice.

These are some of my favourites, but there are many other areas to visit. I have yet to find more than half of the caches in the area myself.

There are many interesting geocaches in the Oslo area. Favourite points might guide you. I can probably update my list from 4 years ago (above), but it would be easier to give you suggestions if you mention your preferences. Like, do you have access to a car, will you rely on public transportation, or do you prefer walking distance from the city centre? How much time will you have for geocaching, e.g. are you willing to spend time on traveling to the right locations or spend a half/full day on complex but spectacular multis/letterboxes? Do you prefer creative hides in the city centre or would you like to experience nature around the city?
