+Riptyd
After reading many reviews about the poor design of garmins auto plug, I stumbled upon a thread about using a generic power cord. After some more thread surfing. I decided to try this. I am using the same power cable that I use to charge my motorola hands free device. But before you try this you must first tell the 62S how to respond when you plug a generic power cord in.The default setting is to go into mass storage mode. follow these steps and you will have no problem. The 62S will ask if you want USB or power mode. Setup>System>Interface setting configured to Garmin Spanner. it also works with my belkin phone charger with the correct mini USB tip. +ArcherACT
Thanks! Nice to know that. I can now power up my little baby for all of 5 dollars for the bits. Quote Link to comment
+EdrickV
A Garmin Nuvi 1300 (and probably other Nuvi units) can also be used with non-Garmin power adapters. (whether AC or DC) The 1300 will start up in mass storage mode, but after trying to talk to a computer that isn't there it will automatically switch over to GPS mode. (Of course, it's not as convenient as a Garmin power adapter.) Edited September 28, 2011 by EdrickV Quote Link to comment
