+Team Pixos
Wondering if UP(s) stands for something in particular? Other than the obvious man in brown truck. Searched and couldn't find it. Quote Link to comment
+HotDiggityDogs
Are you seeing it in a particular context here on the site, in logs or cache descriptions? Quote Link to comment
+Team Pixos
Cache descriptions mentioning ammo cans Then the hint is UP(s) It was for 4 or 5 different caches for an event I'm attending. Quote Link to comment

Keystone
An Unusual Pile of Sticks is often a dead giveaway for a large or regular size container in the woods. If you're hiding a cache, placing eight sticks on top of your ammo box, each three feet long, is as good as a neon sign for attracting muggles and making for a one-star difficulty hunt. Sticks don't fall off of trees into parallel stacks. It may be better to rely on container camouflage, or a mixture of small sticks, rocks and leaves that are more likely to look like what's ordinarily found at the base of a tree or stump. One thing to add: if the tree is off trail, or the sticks are behind the tree in a non visible position, it may work. Quote Link to comment
+Gitchee-Gummee
Methinks the UP is correct as others put it: Unusual or unusual (your choice there) Pile. The (s) probably means sticks/stones/stuff -- is why the "s" is accompanied by parentheses. Mostly, cachers refer to these items as "beacons", because of the way Keystone described their positioning. Another not-so-good one, is using birch bark when the nearest birch tree is 200+ yards away! Or perhaps the always conspicuous pile of large stones in the middle of a moss carpeted forest, etc. Quote Link to comment
+SmallsKC
Uninterrupted Power Supply? Sorry, first thing that came to mind. I'm just a geeky girl I guess! Quote Link to comment
+Mr. Wilson & a Mt. Goat
UPS could mean many things, such as Ultraviolet Photoemisson Spectroscopy, Universal Politician's Suit, or Units Per Second. But I think the real answer is given by Keystone. Quote Link to comment
+A & J Tooling
'Usual place' is the answer you're looking for. Quote Link to comment
+Team Pixos
They all turned out to be ammo cans covered by piles of sticks and branches. Really stood out as not a natural formation. Thanks so much. Quote Link to comment
