+LoneHowler
somethings wrong I tried to edit a old post this afternoon and I received this message This forum only allows messages to be changed for 1440 minutes after posting why can't I change a old post? +Mopar
I post a message that says "LoneHowler is a jerk!" Then 10 people post that I'm crazy, LoneHowler is a nice person. I read them, and change my 1st post to "LoneHowler is a nice person". Now none of the other posts make any sense. Kind of a simplistic example, but I seem to be in a simplistic mood today. Tae-Kwon-Leap is not a path to a door, but a road leading forever towards the horizon. [This message was edited by Mopar on January 31, 2003 at 07:49 AM.] Link to comment

So simplistic, apparently, that you're just repeating yourself. quote:Originally posted by Mopar:Now none of the other posts make any sense. That is often the case even though we CAN'T edit or delete posts. Speaking of which, where is Majicman, anyways? x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x If there's no accounting for stupidity, then why do I need to file a tax return? Link to comment

There are really two issues. Mopar is right about one of them, unlimited editing of posts opens up the possibility for various kinds of abuse. The other is more practical. The date of your message is the date it was originally posted, not the date you last edited it. So for all but the very smallest of discussions, chances are that any edits you make after just a few hours won't be seen by anybody because they'll be going to the recent posts (thinking they've already read yours). If you have some new information to add to your post, it makes more sense to make a new post with the updated information. -Elias Link to comment
+LoneHowler
Thanks for the info I wanted to correct my spelling on a post that everyone pointed out was horribly spelled. I was embarrassed so I wanted to correct it. More to see, More to do Link to comment
