Road Bug
Baby trails are what I call them. Where can I hike that isn't around a suburb or someone's personal property where I can stretch out, use my GPS and make a day out of it? I live in the Cincinnati, Ohio area and there aren't many options I'm finding. All there are is parks with mulched trails with little kids and families. lol I need to move to Alaska I guess. Ahhhhhhh..... Quote Link to comment
+Mr. 0
It's a little ways from Cincinnati, but Shawnee State Forest has a 60 mile backpaking trail that many consider to be one of the more strenuous hikes in Ohio. There's also Caesar Creek State Park a little to the north. The Buckeye Trail winds through the area, but it can be hit and miss. Some of the trail follows roads right through town while other parts are quiet backwoods hikes. I also see that East Fork State Park has some hiking trails, but I don't know much about them. I've camped there, but never really hiked any of the trails. Edited August 29, 2011 by Mr. 0 Quote Link to comment
+coyote song
Adair WMA. If you are looking for a real hike, this is for you. It's a beautiful place, lots and lots of land and a couple pretty good caches. It's in Boone County, KY which is pretty close to Cincinnati. http://fw.ky.gov/kfwis/arcims/wma.asp?strId=149 I highly suggest you check it out! +karenandsam
A lot of East Fork's trails are for bikes and/or horses as well, but we walk them all the time. There is also a backpacking trail that goes around the perimeter of the entire park, but I haven't hiked the whole thing myself. If you're interested, the fishing isn't bad either!
