Mystery Caches?

Even though it's my favorite hobby, I'm still relatively new to geocaching, I started earlier this year. I'm relatively good at finding all caches except mystery caches, and I'm making this thread for some more experienced fellow cachers to shed light on/give advice on finding these pesky mystery caches, and also for other newbies like me to gain some insight.

 

Honestly, nothing makes me feel dumber than staring at a mystery cache page for ten minutes, feeling like a bad detective.

 

Also, share some stories!

There's an excellent tutorial series in south Florida, the Puzzle Solving 101 Series.

 

Many people read these cache pages, and some solve the puzzles, even though they'll probably not ever find the caches; you'll see that in the large numbers of "solved" notes - and then there are those who decide they need to take a south Florida vacation, seeing as they have all these puzzle solutions ;-) .

I'm afraid I can't give you much advice but thought I should post saying I know exactly how you feel! I too am fairly new though so hopefully our skills will improve with time.

 

(I have posted something similar recently and I know that others will have some helpful hints for you although I still stare at many a mystery cache without a clue how to even begin with finding something which resembles coordinates!)
