Oregon 200 Help!

Help required please.

I'm having difficulty entering co-ords for a bonus cache. The only way it seems possible is to drag to a point and save it as a waypoint. This is proving very frustrating as even with the maximum scale getting N and W settings accurate is beyond me.

Isn't there a way just to put the co-ords straight in?

Would be very grateful for help.

Thankyou.

If it's the same as my 300 then select 'Mark Waypoint and then 'Save and Edit'.

Then select Change Name and then Change Location. Then go back and select 'Where to' and select Waypoints and then choose your renamed location.

Hope that makes sense, if not then I am sure there will be somebody else along who can explain it better.

Edited to add: Or you can do it as above which is probably easier

Thanks chaps. The Garmin 200 doesn't have the necessary for the first solution but happily the second worked!

I must say it seems an overly complicated way to achieve a pretty basic function, i.e. to mark a point and navigate to it... perhaps that's one of the reasons why it's no longer made.

Still this will enable me to extend its life before an upgrade

Try putting the following link ito a web browser and upgrading your Oregon's software to the later version

You will then have the Next Stage facility.

http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/file/view/Oregon_WebUpdater__410.gcd

Easy to do, just download it and follow the instructions below:

  1.
  2. Change the name of the file you just download to gupdate.gcd
  3. Attach the Oregon to your computer and verify that it is in USB Mass storage mode
  4. Copy gupdate.gcd to [OR drive]:\Garmin\gupdate.gcd
  5. Restart the Oregon

Plenty of information on there.
