The MEGA EVENT is scheduled for October 1-3, 2011 in the ‘Montagne Bourbonnaise’ (Allier-Auvergne) in the heart of France with the

Original Can of Bean.

 

 

This land of many natural wonders welcomes you during this time to meet geocachers from everywhere. It’s easy to get here, it’s very close to Vichy and the train station, with a direct line to Paris. There are several car rental companies and the Event is less than an hours drive from the Clermont-Ferrand airport. The Lyon and Saint-Etienne airports are less than two hours away.

 

 

The Montagne Bouronnaise is a hikers paradise. The landscape is very diverse and ranges between 1000-4200’ in elevation. There is a variety of terrain: pit bogs, valleys and meadows, and forests of beech or fir trees, something for every skill level. The 250 miles of marked hiking tracks will allow you to discover our mountains numerous treasures.

 

 

From Druidic sites and castles, this area conceals numerous landmarks from its rich history as a border country, since its first Neolithic settlers many millennia ago. Its relative isolation due to the landscape has given the Montagne Bourbonnaise a lively identity derived from ancient traditions and peculiar customs.

 

 

These particular features make this place a haven for tourists from France, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Germany, some of whom have decided to settle for good in this green paradise known for its calmness and beautiful landscapes.

 

 

The town of Le Mayet de Montagne has every needed facility for hosting such a gathering as this. Many supermarkets, gas stations and bakery shops are located in the center of Montagne Bourbonnaise.

 

 

With the involvement of many teams, over 200 caches of every type and difficulty will be available to our guests, including unpublished ones. The MEGA EVENT GC code is GC2MHF5.
