Cache find removed from my list

I've not visited my profile for a while, however when I did I found one of my 'finds' has had a red line put through it and my 'visit log' for that particular cache has also been removed?, I dont recall being sent an E-mail from either the cache owner or Geo-cache admin, I have E-mailed the cache owner(yesterday) and waiting for a reply, does anyone know why this might be done?

A red line through the cache name means it's been archived.

Did you post a find for it after it was archived? That might be why the cache owner deleted your "found it" log.

I always thought that it was a system-generated email that was sent when a log gets deleted.

When the finds have a red line through them it usually means that the cache has been archived. If you click on the cache you should still be able to see the listing and if you scroll through the logs then you should still see your log.

However, I am still fairly new myself and I don't actually know what it would look like if your find had been deleted so it may be that I'm wrong. You are down as having 5 finds so is that right or have you found and logged 6 caches? If it is the Torwood Broch cache then your find is still there. Sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick!

Are you talking about GC1AX1J Torwood Broch?

If that's the one, then your "found it" log of August 19, 2010 is still there. You need to scroll down and click on the link that says "view them all", otherwise you're just seeing the last 5 logs on the cache page.

If your log is deleted, the cache 'Find' and cache details will not be listed as Found. (Unless you logged it as 'Found' twice.)

Your Found log is there, and the cache has been Archived, hence the line through the cache name.

If you visit the cache page, you'll see that the cache has been archived after numerous Needs Maintenance logs...As the reviewer described it "As the Cache Owner has failed to action a Needs Archiving Log, I'm Archiving this cache for Non Maintenance."

It seems everyone who has found that cache then loses there smiley.

Edit: Oops, I took too long replying, got way-layed with some other discussions and others have answered in the meantime.

Looks like you get to keep your smiley, so having the red line through the title of it is just a sign the cache has been archived. Looks like the CO is inactive.

Shouldn't lose your smiley when a cache is Archived. (Unless it's a new bug  )

Still shows as Found in goosegoggers profile...

Yep, I realised that when I read the other posts and corrected in edit, but didn't want to edit that out in case someone had seen it in the intervening seconds. (And to show there's more than one goosegog around here! )

Something similar-ish has happened to me. I started caching in June whilst I was working in Louisville and have found 180 caches, all within a 50 mile radius of my hotel. The GeoC stats say this and the GSAK log on my laptop and Garmin agree. Since I came home I've set up GSAK on my home PC and set up a PQ to import the caches I have found, but it only returns 178 finds. I've not been through the list in detail to see what is missing but I suppose it could be that 2 caches have been archived. Anyone know anything else?

Are you running the special MyFinds PQ, or an ordinary PQ set for 'Caches I have Found'

The MyFinds PQ will return ALL your finds, an ordinary PQ will NOT return Archived caches, or caches over a certain distance.

I think that this is what you are looking for.

Finds don't get removed when a cache is archived. (If they did we'd probably have about 20% less finds than what shows on our profile!)

There must be some other reason why two appear to be missing - Is it possible that you may have a logged a couple of them twice (accidentally) and the cache owner has noticed and deleted the duplicate logs? Did you receive any email notification of any logs being deleted?
