A unique underground mark description.

We found this description of a station on the Oregon Coast.

QE2598’THE STATION IS MARKED BY A DRILL HOLE IN A PIECE OF THE
QE2598'BACKBONE OF A WHALE BURIED 2 FEET

We attempted to look for this. However, our search was stymied when we got near the location and found that the station was located inside a private, gated, community. While idling outside and contemplating the locked gate, we ALMOST followed a delivery van into the area through the just-about-to-close gate. However, common sense, or lack-of-a-spirit-of-adventure, prevailed and we did not enter.

We weren’t too bothered since Google Earth photos showed a newer house sitting directly atop the location of the station. I wonder if the builders even realized that they dug up not only a whale backbone with a drill hole but also the old cup style disk that was above?
